Glo Begins Fixed Line Services In Ibadan

National Carrier, Globacom, has rolled out fixed line services on its Broadaccess network in Ibadan, offering high quality voice, data transmission and high speed internet services to customers in the city. In addition, some of the services that would ultimately be available on Glo Broadaccess are video conferencing, call centre services, video-on-demand, broadcast TV, games and video mail box.
In a statement from the Broadaccess department of the company, several high networth customers have already been connected to the Glo Broadaccess network in the city and are already enjoying the services.
The fixed line services currently covers residential, commercial as well as industrial areas, including Agodi, Federal Secretariat road, Jericho, Cocoa House, Adamasingba, Fajuyi road, Lebanon Street and Awolowo way. Other areas covered are Magazine Road, Forestry Road and several others.
According to the statement, the city would be covered in a very short time. “The network which provides a data communication technology that enables faster data transfer begins to operate immediately in high density traffic areas of Ibadan, but we plan to rapidly expand and bring the service to the doorsteps of all potential subscribers as soon as possible”, the statement said.
Globacom launched its Broadaccess network in Lagos recently following a comprehensive laying of fibre optic cable rings across the country and installation of last-mile infrastructure in major cities.   Glo’s fixed lines are already in use in key areas of Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
