The Supervising Minister of Sports Bolaji Abdullahi, says the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) does not have the sole power to appoint a technical director for the country’s football.
Bolaji who met journalists in Lagos yesterday, said ‘the job of the technical director is a national issue, therefore the appointment of the occupant of that position must be sanctioned by the Sports Ministry.’
The NFF is expected to announce the appointment of its new technical director, said to be Belgian Tom Saintlief, at their executive meeting this week.
According to him, “the appointment of the technical director is a national issue that involves national pride and security because he will work with Nigerian children. The occupant of the position will need visa to enter the country and most importantly, he should be acceptable to Nigeria.’
“They said they will bring the appointee for me to unveil and I said no, I must be involved in the process of hiring the foreign technical adviser.”
